If it is true, that it is the competition between groups which leads to the discord and hatred between us because we believe we are all different, then if people recognized that we were not a different group all this strife should come to a conclusion.
However, when the first rockets were sent into space and sent back the images of our globe, some solidarity was formed between all of the nations which occupy our planet. Yet, that was a fleeting moment in time and easily forgotten.
I almost hate to say it, but what has been proven to work in binding and forming cohesive bonds in smaller groups is presenting them with a common problem or enemy and putting them in a situation where they have to work together to solve the problem.
Extrapolating this concept to the entire planet with all of our varied nations, I have surmised, rather comically, that the only common enemy which could bind us all together is an Alien Invasion. (I only half-joke)
We do however, have a common problem that will take the effort of everyone on the planet to solve. We are just beginning to feel the negative effects of this problem and it has not become so paramount that we as a civilization set aside our differences to face it, yet. That horizon is fast approaching.
These are some of the people culling the information necessary to face this challenge and building the infrastructure when that horizon is at last breeched and we as a civilization are forced to stand in solidarity, or disappear from the history of Earth forever.
